"Seeds of Hope": Empowering Widows and Displaced Women in Cameroon through Food Donation

In Cameroon, the ongoing conflict in the Anglophone regions has left thousands of women widowed, displaced, and struggling to survive. Our organization, “Women’s Intercessory International Network (WIIN),” in partnership with the Organization for Gender, Civic Engagement and Youth Development (OGCEYOD) launched the “Seeds of Hope” project to support these vulnerable women with food items and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The Challenge:

  • The conflict in Cameroon has resulted in:
  • Over 700,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs)
  • Thousands of widows and orphaned children
  • Widespread food insecurity and malnutrition

The Project:

Our “Seeds of Hope” project provided food assistance to 40 widows and displaced women, which alleviated hunger and malnutrition. This project demonstrates the power of community-based initiatives in supporting vulnerable women. By providing food assistance and sustainable livelihood opportunities, we empowered widows and displaced women to rebuild their lives, restore their dignity, and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
