"Equipping Vulnerable Children for the 2024-25 School Year": Back to School Campaign in Cameroon

In Cameroon, the start of a new school year can be a daunting time for many families. With limited financial resources, countless children are forced to miss out on education, perpetuating cycles of poverty. That’s why our organization, “Women’s Intercessory International Network (WIIN),” launched the “Back to School Campaign” to support pupils with educational materials and pay their school fees.

In Cameroon, over 1.5 million children are out of school, with many more struggling to access quality education. The country’s rural areas are particularly affected, where poverty, lack of infrastructure, and limited resources hinder educational opportunities. The current ongoing crisis in the Southwest and Northwest region has further exacerbated the situation with some schools permanently closed in the effected regions. Our “Back to School Campaign” targeted 30 pupils in rural and semi urban areas of Cameroon, providing them with essential educational materials, including:

  • School bags
  • Notebooks
  • Pens and pencils
  • Rulers
  • Erasers

Testimonies:

“I was worried I wouldn’t be able to attend school this year because my parents couldn’t afford the fees. Thank you for your support!” – Nzelle, age 12

“I’m so grateful for the school materials. I can now focus on my studies without worrying about not having the right materials to help me succeed.” – Efeti, age 10

This project was implemented in partnership with the Organization for Gender, Civic Engagement and Youth Development (OGCEYOD) and the Divisional Delegation of the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family (DD MINPROFF) for Fako Division. The “Back to School Campaign” in Cameroon demonstrated the power of collective action in transforming lives. By providing educational materials and paying school fees, we empowered young minds to succeed and created a brighter future for generations to come. As we continue our efforts, we remain committed to ensuring that every child in Cameroon has access to quality education and the opportunities they deserve.
